Hypnosis as Belief Work

Limiting Beliefs

It is part of being human that we believe untrue things about ourselves, others and God.

It is also true that often these beliefs are limiting. Limiting beliefs are false or restrictive ideas about yourself, your capabilities, or the world around you that prevent you from moving forward and achieving your goals. They are beliefs that:

  • Were often accepted in childhood without question.
  • Have become embedded in your subconscious mind.
  • Continue to influence your emotions, behavior and decisions as an adult.
  • Are not based on current reality or your actual capabilities.

  Examples of Limiting Beliefs

  1. "There is something wrong with me" - A belief that you are fundamentally flawed or not good enough
  2. "I'm not capable" - A belief about your abilities and potential.

The Problem with Limiting Beliefs -Why Conscious Effort Alone Doesn't Work

As adults we may consciously reject the limiting belief. For example, we may know consciously, because of our faith, that all people are made in the image of God and are equally valuable, but we may feel less valuable than wealthy people because we have a belief that people who have more money are more valuable. Since our beliefs are held in our subconscious minds, they aren't so easily removed through conscious effort.

Limiting Beliefs and The Mind

Why Limiting Beliefs Stay Put for Years and Decades

  • Conscious Mind: You can intellectually understand that a limiting belief is false
  • Subconscious Mind: The belief remains embedded and continues to influence your      emotions, behaviors, and decisions because your subconscious not only holds your core beliefs, it generates automatic thoughts and emotions and controls habitual behaviors. The good news is your subconscious has the capacity to learn and reorganize beliefs!
  • But it Feels True: Part of the reason that these beliefs stay put is that beliefs are embedded in our subconscious mind, in the same part of our mind that generates our emotions. Because of this these limiting beliefs feel true and when something feels true, we don’t think they can or need to be changed.
  • Critical Factor: There is a component of the mind that refuses any information      that is in conflict with the beliefs held in the subconscious. For example, if you think you are unlovable when someone shows genuine interest or concern for you, you are cynical and think they want something. Because of this belief that you are unlovable, you don’t take in information that is opposite to this belief and so the belief stays      secure even when it isn’t life giving or true.

What is Hypnosis & How Can It Help

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind that everyone experiences thousands of times throughout their lives—such as when you're absorbed in a television program or driving on the highway and miss your exit. In general terms, hypnosis is a heightened state of suggestibility in which the mind becomes more receptive to beneficial suggestions.

The U.S. government defines hypnosis as having two parts: the bypass of the critical factor (the release of limiting beliefs) and the establishment of acceptable selective thinking (a focused, receptive mental state). Hypnosis is a safe, natural state of consciousness that has been recognized and used by medical professionals since the American Medical Association approved it in 1958. When working with a trained hypnosis professional, hypnosis can help you make lasting changes in your beliefs, habits, perceptions, and behaviors to improve your health and quality of life. Hypnosis does this by allowing you to relax your critical factor through a state of deep focus and openness and access your subconscious mind where your beliefs and habits are stored. Hypnosis gives you the opportunity to change beliefs & habits that you've been stuck with for years.
